SC Gov Debate: James Smith Takes a Walk When Gov. McMaster Leads

October 17, 2018

On June 28, the House convened to pass a budget and decide if they would stand with the governor to demand full rate relief for South Carolinians paying for the failed nuclear project at VC Summer, or override his veto.

James Smith had other ideas.

James took the well to deliver a 1,995 word, 13 minute, 10 second campaign speech. Rather than do his job and vote on the governor’s veto and the budget, James promptly left. Check out the House Journal:

Immediately after James took a walk, the House failed to provide full rate relief for power customers.

When the governor took a stand, took the lead, James took a walk.
